SVITAPFOL Ends Production and Launches the Sale of Warehouse Stock

After a thorough evaluation of economic, technical and supplier-related conditions, SVITAP has made the final decision to discontinue the production of laminated foils. The originally planned relocation of the production technology will therefore not take place.

This decision follows our previous announcement of 6 May 2026, in which we informed our business partners of the intention to relocate the production of laminated foils. However, during the preparations, the conditions that have a significant impact on the long-term sustainability of this production changed substantially.

Significant Price Increases and Uncertainty in Raw Material Supplies

In recent months, we have had to deal with significant price instability of key input materials. In the case of LDPE and HDPE, some suppliers increased their prices by more than double. At the same time, the availability of these raw materials has also deteriorated due to extraordinary events and complications in international supply chains.

Prices of aluminium foils have also increased significantly, by tens of percent. We assessed these factors together with the technical, economic and legislative requirements associated with relocating the production technology, as well as the rising personnel costs necessary to retain qualified employees.

Continuing Production Would Not Be Sustainable in the Long Term

The resulting analysis showed a high vulnerability of laminated foil production, particularly in terms of raw material availability, raw material prices and labour costs.

For a large part of the product portfolio, production was operating on the edge of profitability. At the same time, it is not possible to fully pass on further significant increases in input costs to end customers. After carefully considering all circumstances, the management of SVITAP therefore concluded that ending production is the only responsible and long-term sustainable solution.

Production in Svitavy Is Being Gradually Discontinued

The production of laminated foils at the Svitavy plant is currently being gradually discontinued. Our aim is to process the remaining raw material stocks that had originally been prepared before the planned relocation of the production technology. At the same time, the available warehouse stocks of finished products will be sold off gradually.

Customers interested in stocking up in advance or purchasing the remaining warehouse stock are advised to contact us as soon as possible.
