TexPrevent: Developing Protective Textiles for Emergency Situations
Our company SVITAP s.r.o. is actively involved in the research project TexPrevent – Research and Development of Specialized Textiles for Protection in Emergency and Crisis Situations. The project is being carried out in collaboration with VÚB a.s., the Faculty of Textile Engineering at the Technical University of Liberec, and the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, Charles University.
Project Goal
The aim of the TexPrevent project is to develop a range of comfortable protective clothing and textile products with highly functional antibacterial and antiviral properties. These products are designed for use during extraordinary events such as pandemics or other public health crises.
Our Role in Development
As SVITAP s.r.o., we are contributing to the development of a combined textile material made from a base substrate and nanofibers, with the application of additives that have antibacterial and antiviral effects. This phase of the project focuses on meeting physiological comfort requirements and the protective properties of these specialized composite textiles.
Project Outcomes
The result of the project will be special composite structures made from layered textiles incorporating nanofibers and antibacterial/antiviral additives. These materials will be used in protective garments against infectious agents, primarily for the public sector – including healthcare, social services, schools, the police, the army, and firefighters.
Collaboration and Future Outlook
The TexPrevent project builds upon previous successful collaborations between VÚB a.s., the Technical University of Liberec, and the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, such as the TexDerm and R-Děti projects. We believe this new initiative will bring innovative solutions in the field of protective textiles and help improve preparedness for future crisis scenarios.
